I'll go from nice to outrageous! Brain and Music: This article in Wired about Daniel Levitin whose book, This is your brain on music, it's probably my next book!!!!! He's an associate professor at McGill University in Montreal and does a lot of very interesting neuro-research with music. Navajos sign Cuba trade deal This is so cool! Maybe I'm wrong, but I find this very cool! Morning Edition, NPR, August 24, 2006 · The Navajo Nation and Cuba sign a trade deal. The Navajos will sell beans, corn, wheat and other products to Cuba. The deal is possible because of a little-known loophole in the U.S. trade embargo. FDA approves viruses as food additives This article in CNN talks about the new FDA approved spray that will be part of what we eat when we buy not only a hot dog but also packaged meat... Don't you love the FDA and how they care for us all, the more crap they can approve the better they are it seems!! The combination of six viruses is designed to be sprayed on ready-to-eat meat and poultry products, including sliced ham and turkey(...) The special viruses, called bacteriophages, are meant to kill strains of the Listeria monocytogenes bacterium, the Food and Drug Administration said in declaring it safe to use on ready-to-eat meats prior to their packaging. Bush to allow more drilling on Alaska's North Slope And now for a big bummer, Bush luuuuvs his oil, and drilling in Alasak is really far away from him, so it's like when kids don't see something then it musn't exist or something! Yesterday, the Administration announced that on September 27 it would sell oil and gas leases for portions of the National Petroleum Reserve in Alaska. This will open the entire Teshekpuk Lake area, an irreplaceable wildlife habitat, to drilling and oil infrastructure. Bu$hmerika's latest post includes article on troops being recalled: Well, I would post about every article in Bu$hmerika everytime Chuck writes a new one, but this one I find particularly interesting because it points out how powerless we are to this administration. The population has no say whatsoever, the military has no choice but to go get killed or kill themselves, and it's going to be another generation of seriously traumatized people, just like we have now with the Vietnam veterans. The result of course is that IF they come back, they are screwed mentally, AND they don't even get very good benefits as veterans judging by the number of Vietnam veterans not eating everyday! GGRRR THERE ARE NO FLOWERS OR CANDY BEING THROWN AT THE FEET OF U.S. SOLDIERS. IRAQI CITIZENS ARE NOT GRATEFUL FOR THE DESTRUCTION OF THEIR HOMES OR THE MURDER OF THEIR FAMILY MEMBERS.
